Hi Quilting Friends, |
Home with four new quilt tops after a week of sewing in Las Vegas. Even though it was 114-degrees outside it was cool creating with a wonderful group of quilters from all over the U.S. and Australia. If any of you would be interested in joining us next year, the dates will be July 11 through 15. Contact Coordinator Barb Tryon for more information. Her email is barbtryon@lakefield.net.
A new class has emerged as product of our annual event. It’s “Magnolia Lane,” from a pattern by Robin Gallagher. The result is a wonderful two fabric quilt that can be completed in one day.
After making simple blocks and assembling in a straight set, you make two strategic cuts magically resulting in a quilt set on-point. You make no triangles and repeat, your quilt can be finished in one day.
The Magnolia Lane pattern is available from TwoWackyWomen.com or right here, from shop.hearthsidequiltersnook.com. For a look, see the photo on my site. I should add that you also may want to consider making a kid’s quilt using this method. |

Promising news on the growing benefits of eating dark chocolate from WebMD.com. |
“… Researchers now think high blood pressure and heart disease are exceedingly rare among residents of the San Blas islands who eat chocolate, and lots of it. Components in dark chocolate, called polyphenols, are believed to lower blood pressure and improve the flexibility of blood vessels. In a study researchers gave volunteers with hypertension 100 grams of dark chocolate daily. After 15 days, their blood pressure readings were significantly lower and their insulin sensitivity had improved.”

Just remember to keep that chocolate away from your fabric.
